Downtown Fort McMurray (Lower Townsite)
As the nucleus of Fort McMurray, the downtown area is often busy and congested, with the main road, Franklin Avenue often suffering bumper to bumper traffic. Many of the bigger stores and services are located in this area, along with restaurants and bars.
Timberlea
The largest residential area in Fort McMurray, Timberlea is also the fastest growing neighborhood in the city. Many amenities can be found here, including supermarkets, boutiques, and restaurants.
Gregoire
The rapid growth of Fort McMurray, due mostly to the oil sands, has spawned a new residential area populated mostly by oil field workers. A large number of temporary trailers may be found in this neighborhood, along with hotels and motels. The influx of people has also sparked a lively restaurant and bar scene.
